Electrathon

Electrathon will be held on a Saturday in April 2012
at Columbia Basin College, Pasco, WA

What is an Electrathon Rally?
High school students design and build small electric cars as a class/school project and compete against other regional schools. Adults/companies may race in open class.

Is it a race, is it safe?
This is not a race per say but more of an endurance event. The object is to travel the longest distance on a single battery charge in a given time period, track layout is designed to prevent unsafe speeds. To the best of our knowledge no student or spectator has ever been injured during an Electrathon event. The event can be self insured for a nominal fee.

What does the track look like?
Hay bales or tires typically are laid out in a parking lot to outline a course and isolate Electrathon vehicles from spectators. Hay bales can be bagged to mitigate clean up issues, tires may be used as an alternative.
Why have we never seen an Electrathon race in this area? Electrathon Rallys are considered the modern Soap Box Derby.  Electrathons are held Washington State and all over the Northwest.  Every April an Electrathon event is held in Eastern Washington at Columbia Basin College. It is a great opportunity for area and regional high schools to glimpse the future of vehicles.

We welcome you to come an see these electric cars in action.
